What is the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC)?

FIRST Robotics combines the excitement of a sport with the rigors of science and technology

Under strict rules and limited time and resources, teams of high school students are challenged to build industrial-size robots to play a difficult field game in alliance with other teams, while also fundraising to meet their goals, designing a team “brand,” and advancing respect and appreciation for STEM within the local community. FIRST Robotics Competition gives high school students and their adult mentors the opportunity to work and create together to solve a common problem.

Why do FRC mentors volunteer?

"I've accumulated a wealth of skills over the years and this was an opportunity to give back by mentoring FRC students to support them and share my knowledge."

"For me, mentoring really pays off when I get to see our students get genuinely excited about applying the theory that they're learning in the classroom on the team."

"It's fun and changes lives. Why wouldn't I mentor?"

How do I become an FRC mentor?

Through our collaborations with the Center for Excellence and the ICT Zupanija, we have the resources and facilities we need to create a successful FRC team in Split. We are looking for volunteer mentors to work with both Croatian and International youth on our FRC team and build our first robot. Our goal is to attend the Istanbul FRC Regional tournament in early 2023 and earn our place at the FRC World Championship in the US.

Mentors are asked to commit 2-5 hours per week working with students in their areas of expertise on a particular area of the project. We are looking for industry professionals in the areas of electronics, computer programming, manufacturing and fabrication, CAD, marketing and business, or any other enthusiastic adults willing to share their time with teenagers and give back to the community.
